Ross and Locke

Gillies Highway, Little Mulgrave

Ross and Locke is a popular swimming spot on the Mulgrave River, south of Cairns.
There is a rope swing tied to an overhanging tree so you can launch yourself into the water or you can float downstream on a lilo or tyre tube. There are also some sandy areas that form mini beaches where you can relax.

Some people blow up inner tubes and float from Ross and Locke down the Mulgrave to Gordonvale. It sounds like a beautifully serene activity but be careful – crocs have been sighted in the Mulgrave River below Ross and Locke.
